Shahid connects with the fans in Kolkata

It was a well-kept secret and Shahid Kapoormade the most of the situation. The actor was in Kolkata recently, away from the media glare, to attend a meet-and-greet event organized by a brand that he is endorsing.

By breaking into an impromptu jig and even obliging a mechanic, present at the event, who challenged him to an arm-wrestling duel, he emerged what he is on celluloid — a hero.

Shahid, it's learnt, took a day off from shooting for Phata Poster Nikla Hero to attend the event. Once the initial euphoria gave way to a subdued mingling with the mechanics, who crowded the do, Shahid chose to let himself loose.

A spokesperson of the actor confirmed, "Yes, Shahid was in Kolkata for a day and loved the experience. The microphone at the do blared loud music and when Shahid asked someone, he said, 'You don't know? This is our Dada's ( Mithun Chakraborty) song.' Shahid, who loves dancing, broke into an impromptu jig, though he couldn't recall the song title later."

By dancing with all, he blended into the ambience. But the interesting bit was when Shahid played a perfect sport obliging one of the mechanics in an arm-wrestling competition. The spokesperson added, "The actor is training hard for his forthcoming film, where he plays a cop and was more than happy to accept the challenge. In the end, he won." Once a hero, always a hero.
